Assignment #3

On this particular day, I am sitting at home on my day off with absolutely nothing to do. For the most part, I'm just sitting in my room on my bed watching my TV. I'm feeling pretty bored and unmotivated. There is absolutely no energy in my body to get up and do anything. I felt very bedridden and lazy. I realized that I really did have a lot of stuff to do, so I did my best to look for a pick-me-up. I happened to look over, and saw a bag of Life Saver Gummies sitting on the table beside my bed. All of the sourness of the candy gives me energy, and gives me a bit of a boost. It's not like chocolate, which usually makes me just want to lay in bed even more and watch romance movies until I fall asleep that night. It has that amazing fruity flavor, and makes me want to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather, or just do the things I know need to be done. Even though there is no one at home with me to spend time with, I feel like I can do all of the things I need to do on my own. I decide to clean my room, do my laundry, and do all of my dirty dishes. I then realize that since the candy put me in such a bubbly mood, I want to go outside and enjoy the beautiful sunshine and read my book. I even get in my car to take a nice drive to enjoy the warm weather! I crank up my reggae and hip hop music, and just dance to the beat of my own drum. It makes me feel very free, like nothing could possibly get in my way or get me down on a day like this. All of the cares and troubles just fade away for that brief moment of time, and I'm not thinking about what I need to be doing in the next week. I'm just thinking about what's going on right now, and that's just relaxing and just being ME! It's such a calming and free-spirited feeling, and that's what I need these days. That day made me so much more calm, and relieved quite a lot of stress. I feel very refreshed and know that I can handle anything that the next day brings my way. Even though all I ate was candy, I feel like I can take on the world, and that I can do anything. I just feel invincible, thanks to the amazing flavors of Life Saver Gummies! (:

Assignment #2

Since this seemed to be a bit of a science experiment, my mother played the role of the scientist. I was instructed to open the package that said "Do Not Open Until Instructed" and was completely amazed when

opened it.

I was very happy to see all of the different types of candy that had been given to me.

Such an awesome variety!

When asked what I thought about my care package, all I could do was smile. (:  I was then instructed to choose one package of candy to pull out of the box. I chose:

I was then asked a series of questions. Here are my answers to my questions:

a)"Why did you choose that particular package?"

     I have always liked Skittles, so it was the first one to catch my eye.

b)"How would you describe Skittles candy to someone who's never seen it before?"

     They are round ovals, kind of like M&M's. There are a bunch of different flavors, but the majority 

     of them taste fruity. Some of these flavors include lemon, lime, and even orange.

   i)"The perfect occasion for eating Skittles is..."-on a hot summer day laying on the beach, tanning

        and listening to my iPod.

  ii)"When I think of Skittles, it reminds me of..."-rainbows! The commercials always make me smile

 iii)"Eating this candy makes me feel..."-bubbly! It automatically puts me in a good mood!

 iv)"The kind of people who eat this brand the most are..."-people who love fruit, of course!

I was instructed to pull another package of candy out of the box. This time, I chose:

Sprees!

a)"Why did you choose that particular package?"

   I haven't eaten them since I was younger, so I chose a throwback!

b)"How would you describe Spree candy to someone who's never seen it before?"

   They are a bunch of circular candies that are chewy when you eat them. They each have their own

   fruity flavors.

   i)"The perfect occasion for eating Spree is..."-when you are craving something chewy, not hard.

       They're also perfect when you're craving something fruity.

  ii)"When I think of Spree, it reminds me of..."-when my grandmother always used to stop at a gas

       station and buy them for me.

  iii)"Eating this candy makes me feel..."-reminiscent.

  iv)"The kind of people who eat this brand the most are..."-people who prefer chewy candy over

         hard candy.

   v)"The music that goes along with eating this brand is..."-late 90's music.

I was told to pull out a third package of candy. For this part, I chose:

a)"Why did you choose that particular package?"

   It reminded me of high school. I used to eat them constantly during class.

b)"How would you describe Nerds candy to someone who's never seen it before?"

   They are tiny clusters of flavored, tangy candy.

   i)"The perfect occasion for eating Nerds is..."-when you're wanting a light, tangy candy to satisfy

        that sweet tooth craving!

  ii)"When I think of Nerds, it reminds me of..."-being bored in class during high school.

 iii)"Eating this candy makes me feel..."-nerdy!

 iv)"The kind of people who eat this brand the most are..."-probably younger kids.

  v)"The music that goes along with eating this brand is..."-carnival music.

I was told to choose one final brand of candy from the box. For this last part, I chose:

a)"Why did you choose that particular package?"

   I have only eaten Starburst once in my life, so I figured I'd try something I haven't experienced

   much.

b)"How would you describe Starburst candy to someone who's never seen it before?"

   They're juicy, fruity, and chewy! Quite a great combination!

   i)"The perfect occasion for eating Starburst is..."-when laying by the pool with friends.

  ii)"When I think of Starburst, it reminds me of..."-the funny contradiction commercials they show

        on tv.

 iii)"Eating this candy makes me feel..."-hyper and want to go out and do cartwheels in the sun!

 iv)"The kind of people who eat this brand the most are..."-people who like something juicy.

  v)"The music that goes along with eating this brand is..."-hip hop/dance music.

I was asked the type of candy I'd want to eat right now, and I chose Sweet Tarts. I even took them out and snacked on a couple of them! When asked which candy would most likely be the last one left in the box, I chose Juicy Drop Pop. It doesn't look like something I'd be interested in eating, or something that would ever catch my eye if I was out somewhere.

I was then asked to pull the Life Savers Gummiers Sours and the Sour Patch Kids out of the box.

a)"What is your initial reaction to these two brands?"

   i) Life Saver Gummies- They make me want to put them on my fingers like when I was younger!

  ii) Sour Patch Kids- My tongue instantly starts tingling because I know they're very sour.

b)"Which of these two brands do you prefer and why?"

   I prefer Sour Patch Kids. I like very sour candy, and I don't think Life Savers are that sour. I don't

   really like some of the flavors they have, either.

c)"Tell me what you like and dislike about each of them?"

   i) Life Saver Gummies- I like that they don't look like any ordinary candy. They have their own

                                           unique shape. I dislike that they're not as sour as I think they could be.

  ii) Sour Patch Kids- I like that they're extremely fruity and sour! I dislike that they make my tongue

                                    hurt when I'm done eating them.

d)"If you like sour candy and eat these brands, tell me what types of places you are and what things you're doing when you eat each of them."

   i) Life Saver Gummies- I don't eat these very much, but I'm usually at home watching TV when I

                                           do.

  ii) Sour Patch Kids- I usually eat them when I'm out with friends just driving around.

I thought this was a very fun experiment! I liked all of the questions that were asked of me. They made me really think about a lot of different things. I liked that my creative side was able to come out. This was a lot of fun, and I'd love to do something like it again! Thanks for all of the candy!

Assignment #1

I knew this assignment was going to be fun for two reasons. For one, I absolutely LOVE to shop! For another, I absolutely love candy.  Needless to say, I was very excited to begin this particular assignment. I was pretty happy about the fact that I was able to buy candy...but not really use my own money for it! So 

thank you for that!

I already knew the exact store I wanted to go to. It's the store I always go to to get my random essentials, and I ALWAYS get my candy from here.

The main thing I'm trying to concentrate on while I'm in Walmart is where in the world they moved the candy aisle to?! After asking quite a few people and getting turned around, I find it! Even though I pretty much already knew the candy I wanted, I figured I'd browse. I always get a certain type of candy because they're my favorite. I can't just eat one...I end up eating the whole thing!

The thing I like about candy itself and even the boxes they come in is that they're so colorful. They know that this is really going to catch someone's eye. That was pretty much heaven! Any type of candy I wanted, I could have. There were soooo many types to choose from! The Junior Mints looked tasty, because you have the amazing taste of chocolate but then the cooling sensation of mint in your mouth. I think chocolate and mint are a great combination. The Milk Duds looked great, seeing as how you can pull them out as one big clump thanks to the caramel! My mother has gotten me hooked on peanut M&M's, so I had a mild craving for those as well. All we ever tend to eat at my job are Mike & Ike's, so all of those chewy fruity flavors were running through my head. And the Cookie Dough Bites made me think of being at a movie, since that's what I always get when I'm at one! In the end, I went with my instinct and chose the candy I wanted all along.

Sour Patch Kids!!!

The decision to purchase Sour Patch Kids definitely comes from my taste buds. Every time I even look at a box, my taste buds go insane. I think it's something about sour candy that makes that happen. Its been my favorite candy for so long, and I would have actually felt guilty if I chose something else. I choose to not eat my candy until I get home. I don't want the little bits of powder to be all over my car! Since the box was not amazingly big, I don't even save any for later. I ate the WHOLE thing! And of course, I was not about to share them with anyone! I felt very satisfied while eating them, although I knew my tongue was going to hurt the next day.

They are extremely sour. Haha!

The Real Kara

I would describe my personality as someone who cares way too much.  I always tend to put people's problems before my own, and always want to go out of my way to help someone out whenever I can.  I tend to be very outgoing, and am always willing to do something that sounds fun.  I always want to help people with their problems emotionally, which is why I would like my major to be Psychology in college.  My goal is to be some sort of a social worker when I graduate.  My friends usually call me the "mom" of the group.  I think part of it is because I'm older than them and I always drive them around. They also think that I'm overprotective over them like a mother would be.  They tell me that I have a great sense of humor, and that I'm always doing dumb stuff to make them laugh,so I'm considered the goofy one out of my friends.  I am very loving, and want to give as much love to the people I care about as I can.

If I could be any type of candy, I believe the candy most like me would be a Sour Patch Kid.  The commercials always make me laugh and make me think of myself.  At first, I tend to be a little mischievous and maybe get into a little trouble ("first they're sour...).  Then I usually realize that I've messed up, and want to do anything I can to make things right (..then they're sweet!")  Plus, they're just delicious!  I love sour candy. (:

Introduction To The Wonderful World Of Me!

You're hearing from someone who absolutely LOVES candy! My name is Kara Gilbert, and I am nineteen years old living in Tucker. I am currently working in a preschool with one year olds in a local church. I will be going to college at Georgia Perimeter this August for Communications. I really love reading and writing, so I think this is something I would be interested in studying and possibly making a career out of. One of the other things I'm very passionate about is music. I don't know where I would be if I didn't have music in my life. There are so many kinds that can describe every type of mood I'm in. That's my life and the things I love doing!
